Perhaps you are wondering what this Block of the Month (BOM) thing is all about or why would Margo even host a free event? Let me share about this fun and free event.
A Block of the Month is a group of people creating a common project at the same time and sharing and chatting virtually together about the project. If you search through social media platforms, you will see that there are many of these events happening everywhere. There are also many other similar types sew togethers in different formats. They are most often free or some charge a small fee, but ours we are hosting is free. With such an amazing response, I will try some other formats too!
Why you might ask? When I became a Home Economics teacher 34 years ago, my desire was to teach the love of sewing (cooking, baking, etc) to my students. I continued that passion throughout my career and in my spare time taught adults, youth and children to sew and quilt. My passion is what lead me to launch Stitch SJ. I truly brings me joy to see others learn, enjoy and thrive with hobbies. Whether it is sewing, quilting, needle-felting, embroidery, knitting, crochet, needle point, cross-stitch or any hobby that brings you joy! The world is a crazy place right now and we all need joy and a divergent from the news! Hobbies are important and healthy for our souls and minds.
Whatever your experience level is; from beginner to an advanced quilter, let's enjoy each other's company on this virtual platform and quilt together. The Block of the Month is to encourage you to take a bit of time out of your schedule in the month to create one block. Before we know it, we will have twelve blocks ready for a quilt top! Cheer each other on, interact, share and post your blocks as we work through each month.
